Customer Reviews
Even though the process of creating technical drawings has changed so much over the last several decades, the need for clear and accurate drawings in design and development activities is as strong as ever. Many of the details involved in producing a good diagram are handled by CAD/CAM software to facilitate the design process and help reduce the burden on the designer, but I wanted to have a good technical drawing reference showing correct drawing basics, with proper examples (and sometimes even noting poor approaches) and useful information all in one place. I completed a technical drawing course as part of an electrical engineering degree program some years ago using an earlier edition of this text. This one course stuck with me and has probably been one of the most valuable to me over time, since I have needed to use drawing skills on a daily basis in creating design documents, schematics, and diagrams. The need to present ideas and information clearly will always be there, even if methods have changed and evolved beyond pencils, templates, and drafting tables. This book covers much of the "old school" methods, but has been updated for current CAD/CAM design flows. I would have like to have seen more in the way of "best practices" for electrical schematics, since I've seen many "poor examples" and surely have even created a few of my own. But I'm glad to see the book has been updated through many versions, and pleased that I purchased this one.
